Logistics warehousing - efficient sorting
Logistics warehousing - efficient sorting

Background & Challenge
In the past, sorting in the entire logistics system consumed a significant amount of time and labor costs. To ensure the efficiency of logistics distribution and reduce the overall cost of the logistics process, automated logistics sorting machines have been widely used in the sorting sites of major logistics companies. The ODOT C series Remote IO system is widely integrated into various logistics sorting systems. By utilizing the integrated IO modules, it effectively captures control signals, enhancing the efficiency of sorting goods.

Solution
In a customer's cross-belt sorting equipment, the control system obtains the status of the on-site equipment from the Siemens S7-1200 PLC. After analyzing and processing the data, it issues execution commands. The PLC controls the frequency converter, and the sorting mechanism handles package transportation and material sorting. The ODOT C series Remote IO system, with the CN-8032-L as the remote station for the PLC, utilizes integrated IO modules (digital input module CT-121F and digital output module CT-222F, with a total of 100 points). These modules can quickly and accurately feed back the operating status, position, and fault status of the on-site equipment to the PLC. Based on the PLC's output commands, they control the start and stop of the frequency converter and motors to transport packages to designated storage locations.

Product Portfolio

CN-8032-L | Profinet Network Adapter, Maximum input/output of 1440 Bytes, 2 × RJ45 ports |
CT-121F | 16 channel digital input/24VDC/ Sink type/The input high level is valid |
CT-222F | 16 channel digital output/24VDC/source type/output 24VDC, the output high level is valid |

Result
In addition to precise and fast data transmission, the ODOT C series distributed IO system has another advantage that few other similar products possess. The C series uses automotive-grade MCUs with wide temperature characteristics, capable of stable operation in environments ranging from -40°C to 85°C. This feature enables ODOT products to be widely used in various sorting systems across different geographical and seasonal environments.
