Project Overview
This is a well-known dairy manufacture enterprise in north China, which mainly produces milk drinks and yogurt products in bags, cups, boxes and bottles. This enterprise owns 17 production lines and its production equipment control system (PLC) and touch screen (HMI) main brands are Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Schneider, Delta, B&R and Hitech. We need to collect data such as equipment status information (boot, standby, cleaning, fault), production process parameters (product specifications, production counting, sterilization temperature, the temperature of hydrogen peroxide solution temperature and cleaning ).
Field Research
According to the field research, the workshop has 17 production lines and 2 sterilization machines with a total of 19 devices need to be collected data with. The equipment control system includes PLC brands like Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Schneider, Delta, B&R and Hitech.
Challenge
There is a wide variety of equipment brands with a various data collection methods too. PLC and HMI has no extra communication ports available. Most of the production line PLC and HMI source program are encrypted. Some data need to be collected is not in PLC or HMI, but from field instruments.
Solution
Project Summary
No need for PLC and HMI source program password and there is no need to change the original program. Each production line is equipped with 1 network server, and the whole network structure can be easily expanded. Data from field instrumentation enters the networked server via a protocol converter.
